Reunion Songs

poems for reconnection and remembering yourself home

A woman with curly gray hair and a confident expression, dressed in a black sheer blouse with polka dot accents, posing against a dark background.

I’m Amanda, a writer and poet living on Yuggera Turrbal country, Australia.

You can read my poems and essays on my Substack, Alchemy in Between.

Life always invites us to rediscover our true passions and free ourselves from what holds us back.

Writing helps me chart the often strange course between my internal and external worlds, between the seen and unseen and back and forth through time in my quest for personal and collective remembering and reconnection.

Together we can create the more beautiful, just and compassionate world we long for.

Alchemy in Between is my free poetry and creative practice subscription delivered to your inbox and ears via Substack.

Every month, you'll receive an original poem and/or essay written and narrated by me on love, loss, longing and letting go through a sacred, mystical and animist lens.

They are reminders to myself, and hopefully to you too, on how to fall back in love with ourselves and the world.

A quote on a beige background that says, 'I close my eyes, I listen for the old gods speaking my mother tongue,' with a small website link at the bottom right.
  • "If your soul needs nourishing, head here immediately. Amanda sprinkles deep wisdom and mystical truths like confetti, and her poetry always facilitates a homecoming. For reconnection to what is most important, there is no better Substack."

Chloe Hope - Death & Birds

  • "Amanda's poetry is a balm for the soul during troubled times. Her connection and commitment to presence with all things show us the way forward."

    Mariah Friend - Heartbeats

  • “ Amanda speaks to you on so many levels! Your senses will thank you!”

    Tracey Mayor - Releasing Spells

It's a privilege to live and create on this beautiful land, for which I am deeply grateful.

I acknowledge the Yuggera/Turrbal peoples, the traditional custodians of the land I write from, and pay my respects to their elders throughout time, as well as the ancestral spirits, waterways, and lands on which I live.

I also honor my ancestors from various regions, including Lismore and the Northern NSW tablelands, Central Ireland, the East Midlands, London, Northeastern Scotland, Heiligenhafen, and Danzig/Gdańsk, who carried me here.

May we all work to heal the damage of colonization, resolve past collective, ancestral and individual traumas, remember our interconnectedness, and restore right relationships with all beings.
