What to remember on waking
When you wake with a tired heart
know that the world needs this too,
it longs for your joy and your sorrow.
You, now, here in this bed
the dawn rousing you into being,
this is your reminder to remember.
Know that you know your fullest magnitude, and
how it feels when it calls you.
This is all that matters.
Just as you were carried unawares
from that world into this
released into the bed of morning,
you know how to send shoots and roots through the darkness,
to trust in the unfolding of what you cannot see.
When you wake, remember –
you are not the seed or the flower,
you are the unfurling and the uprising,
life itself,
visible for a brief moment
in bloom.
